Mastering on an iPhone without uploading anything
Updated 2026-09-06
Every online mastering service works the same way: you upload the track, a server processes it, you download the result. That is fine for a demo. It is a strange thing to do with a song nobody has heard yet.
What on-device means
Burnish for iPhone and iPad runs the full chain on the device's own processor. Analysis, repair, EQ, multiband compression, widening, the limiter, the loudness measurement. No network request. You can master in airplane mode. The file never leaves the phone unless you share it.
What that changes in practice
- No queue. A four minute song masters in well under a minute on a recent iPhone.
- No account, no upload limit, no file size cap tied to a plan.
- No training. There is no server to train on your audio.
- Re-mastering is free. Turn a dial, run it again, as many times as you like.
Inside GarageBand and Logic Pro for iPad
The same engine ships as an AUv3 plugin. Put it on the master bus of a GarageBand or Logic Pro for iPad project and hear the mastering chain live while you arrange. Genre and intensity are the two controls. Nobody else ships AI artifact repair as a mobile plugin.
What is the same as the web version
The chain, the genre profiles, and the report. The web app and the iOS app are checked against each other so a track masters the same on both. The web app exists for people without an iPhone and for a quick free check from any browser.
The iOS app is a one-time purchase. The first master is free, and there is no subscription. Get it on the App Store, or run a free analysis here first.
Check your own file, free
Drop a track in and get the cutoff, the low-mid excess, the width, the loudness and the true peak on one page. Nothing is changed and nothing is charged.
